Thank you all SO much! We can't believe how much money we have raised - we're nearly at our third target (we just had to keep setting the bar higher!) - double what we set out to raise! The support has been overwhelming and come from everywhere - it really is touching. At least we know we have your support - something to think about when motivation is low on the trail! xoxox

3-in-1
Luci always told me to never use a two-in-one cleanser/moisturiser on my face, because it is the equivalent of using those dodgy two-in-one shampoo/conditioners from hotel bathrooms on your hair. So if two-in-one is bad, three-in-one must be even worse... right? Well, that's what we will be attempting. A three-in-one. We've spent the last three weekends covering all sections of the Trailwalker, now we just have to smash it in just one weekend. 100 km. The gravity is sinking in more and more with every training walk we finish - we're all dying for a bath, a glass of vino and bed by the end. Well someone better get a magnum ready for the finish line - because Pink Power is ready for the challenge!

Check check 1, 2... Is this thing on?
So here goes! The big one. Start - Checkpoint 1, Checkpoint 1 - Checkpoint 2. 29kms - all with new trail shoes. We started out all smiles and sunshine, but ended up all blistered and dusk. What a day! We are wiser for having done it. We learnt many, many things. The first of which was Trail Darwinism - if you lead the team astray from the path, you automatically become back-of-the-pack. Whilst this was natural selection due to circumstances (large rocks and thin trails meaning if you were the first in, you are the last out), the principles should translate into all situations. Hand over the navigation tools, you fail. Lesson 2: walking poles are like reusable shopping bags - they're both more useful when not locked in the boot of your car. Lesson 3: mummifying your toe in tape makes said toe numb. Many other pearls of wisdom later, we have emerged a stronger, wiser, much more blistered pack of 'old biddies'. Remember - Confucius say the path of illumination begins with packing a head torch!

Together at last
Finally the awesome foursome were all together! Sue, Barb, Luci and Bee all set out super early on Sunday morning to get out walk on. Despite Bee and Sue's hangovers, morale was high and we were excited to finally be walking as a team. The first part of our walk left a lot to be desired by a dehydrated brain - we couldn't find the start of our track so we walked along the roadside - directly into sunlight. Man that thing is bright! With time restrictions, we decided to make next Sunday a BIG walk. We want to tackle the start to Checkpoint 2 - over 30kms and the most challenging terrain of the trailwalk. We decided that we should have 'no plans' for the rest of the day (as I'm sure we will be ruined), and that we should definitely have 'no hangovers'. Maybe we should have called our team - "No plans, No hangovers"! We found our track and marched until we found a coffee shop. Yes, I believe we're going to get along just fine :-)

71.5 Kms already! Well... sort of...
Sue, Luci and Bee packed our bags and work up early on Sunday 16 May to get cracking on our training. Accompanied by Clinton and Dylan (the supportive boyfriends), the 5 of us got our trot on from Acron Oval in St.Ives over to Checkpoint 6 - Kambora Public School via the Cascades Track. In cumulative terms, by Checkpoint 6 on race day, we will be at 71.5kms! Feeling proud of our future accomplishment, we headed for Checkpoint 7 down the Middle Harbour Creek Track. With few hairy bits to negotiate, and a bit of disenchantment over my inability to add (I told everyone the walk was 12.6km... it was more like 16.5km), I'm happy to report spirits were high with Dylan even running up the mammoth hill to take us back to St.Ives. All in all a great day - beautiful weather and enjoying discovering the trail that will see the better of us in August.
