Congratulations From Steve & Debbie

post image

To Renee, Ness, Joe, & Pete (The Bandaid Bandits), Congratulations! This is an amazing achievement for yourselves individually , for you all as a team and for the people you have raised funds to support. Your determination to get to the end as a complete team by supporting and encouraging each other was inspirational. Many teams finished before yours but not many of them finished as a complete team. You put your hearts and souls into this event - almost putting your lives on hold to train, organise and prepare for it. Your courage to face the challenges, especially enduring physical pain over the 38 hours was astounding. Beside raising money for Oxfam, the companies who produce neurofen, panadol, dencorub, bandaids, gauze and strapping tape are also much better off. Please pass on to your families and friends who have donated to this cause our thanks and our reassurance that many people who suffer poverty and injustice around the world will be better off because of your extraordinary effort. It was an honour to be a part of your team as Support Crew, it was an experience we will never forget, you are four extraordinarily wonderful humanitarians.

4 Sleeps to Go...

With only 4 sleeps until the event, the four of us are definitely feeling the nerves and excitement (especially Renee who has bitten off two sets of acrylic nails). We had our last training session - a 30km walk. Now we are hoping that our training over the last few months will be enough to get us to that finish line!

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou

A huge hug, kiss and thankyou to our wonderful family, friends and work colleagues who have donated recently. Our recent sponsors include Debbie, Aunty Maria, Jodie, Gaenor, Paul, Dee, Stu and the generous sponsors who prefer to remain nameless. The four of us are so grateful for YOUR kindness and support. Each time we get a sponsor we truly are humbled. It's getting so close to the event, we will definitely be remembering all of your motivating messages to help get us to that finish line. xxxx

Less Shopping and More Walking!

Last Sunday was supposed to be "The Band Aid Bandits" 2nd Training Day - walking from Checkpoint 1 to Checkpoint 3 of the track. Instead, Joe and I (Ness) found ourselves 'trail walking' into the Paddy Pallin city store!! Hours later, we 'trail walked' out with a schmick pair of walking shoes, socks, day packs and decked out in merino jackets and shirts. I wonder if shopping for the trail walk is anywhere near as exhausting as actually doing it? Hmm doubt it. Ok, now no more wasted weekends for us! This sunday we will hit the track bright and early (sporting our sleek new 'scarpas' of course). Checkpoints 2 and 3 here we come!!! Stay tuned for our post Sunday Training Day update! We might even post some photos if you're lucky ;) Ness
