Seven weeks to go.....Capital City Trail

Here’s a quick update on our training for the event. Our latest bout of training took us along the Capital City Cycling Trail around inner Melbourne. Starting at the boat sheds opposite Federation Square we walked in an anti-clockwise direction taking around 5.5 hours to complete the 30km circuit. Everyone was in good spirits and completed the circuit with relative ease and no obvious injuries. Our next team training event is planned for 2 weeks time, so stay tuned for further updates as we inch closer to the main event.

Welcome to the 2010 Oxfam Trailwalker instalment for the Origin 39ers. Yes, the team has re-formed and is walking the trails once again to raise money for Oxfam. After going through all the training and preparation for last year's event, (the early Sunday training sessions etc, etc) the question is "What in the hell are we thinking in doing it again"? Well only time will tell, but it is very satisfying to participate in an event like this and give something back to the community at the same time. If a picture told a thousand words, then this picture from last year's event shows the dedication required to complete the walk. Our team has changed slightly from last year with John Gordon making his debut and coming into the team for Ian Stuart. (Is this the time that we let John know what he is in for? Hmmm...... maybe not yet). So, check this page regularly for updates and you will see how the journey is going for us. However, the main purpose of the Trailwalker event is to raise money for Oxfam so they can continue their great work in various communities both in Australia and Overseas. This is where you can help by donating to Oxfam via this webpage and at the same time supporting our team while we train and raise money for this event. (Any donations over $2 are tax deductible) Thank you in advance, The Origin 39ers team
