After a few quiet months we're off and running with our Trailwalker preparations! Suddenly, a 10km walk seems like a stroll in the park, so we're stepping up by planning some longer training sessions. Over the weekend we tackled the 20km Merri Creek, all finishing with strong legs and a smile! Fundraising has really started to pick up and we want to pass on a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have donated so far. While our walking strategy is based on building our fitness, our fundraising strategy at work seems to mostly revolve around selling yummy treats. (A bit cruel when you're trying to get fit!) Not only are we baking, but we've also got sausage sizzles, a donut drive and a lolly-guess competition planned. Origin will match every dollar that we raise internally, so it's great to know all of our efforts will make double the difference. We've got lots of events and training sessions planned, so stay tuned to hear more on our progress. Thanks for supporting us!

Meet the team

post image

We're four ladies representing Origin's community investment team. Every year we cheer on our colleagues at Trailwalker from the comfort of checkpoint two. In 2010 we're leaving our volunteer posts behind to take on the full challenge of Trailwalker - and it's a huge one! We’ll be walking 100km in just 48 hours, raising money for Oxfam's work fighting poverty and injustice in over 27 countries around the world, including Australia. We've set a fundraising target of $2,000 for Oxfam Australia, but hope to raise much more than this. Please help us make all the sore muscles, blisters and ruined pedicures worth it! Every dollar counts.

I'm finally uploading my profile! I guess the excitement is starting to build here in the Origin community team. I'm the newbie here at work, so this year's Oxfam Trailwalker will be my first and I'm really looking forward to the adventure ahead of us! It's going to be tough on the mind, body, spirit (and my poor feet!) but what a wonderful thing to be able to say "We made it!" We've upped the weekly training and our fundraising efforts, so I hope you can get on board and help us reach our target or at the very least cheer us over the finish line! =)

Hi, I'm Pauline and just as clumsy as Kate. Every year when the Trailwalker comes around I've thought about participating as a walker, but lose courage when it comes to registration time. I was only thinking about walking for 2010 when Kate put our names forward as a team. I was horrified but glad it's finally done! I look forward to spending time training and having all that time to ponder over things while out there in the bush. I've cheered for walkers at Checkpoint 2 for the last 4 years, so come by and cheer for Community Spirit @ Origin.

Hi, my name is Kate and I'm a 25 year-old self-confessed clutz! Trailwalker is going to be a big test of my ability not to trip, fall or get lost - issues that I'm hoping will be ironed out over the next 20 weeks of training. I've volunteered at Trailwalker for the past three years and never thought that I would actually do it. I'm really looking forward to the challenge of getting super fit and am hoping the key to my fundraising success will lie in my baking abilities! Muffins anyone? I was lucky enough to be involved with the Oxfam Challenge last year and after meeting Oxfam's community partners in Alice Springs I can tell you that every dollar raised really makes a difference. Please support us.
