"exhausted but proud"
This is actually a quote from the support team, but probably sums it up for us all. For the walkers add: aching, hobbling, filthy, and hugely grateful to everyone who has supported us. Our support team during the walk fed us fabulous food (we might be the only team who actually put on weight whilst walking 100 km!), kept us optimistic, and drove hundreds of km. Our overnight hosts, Rachel and Jason, were amazingly welcoming and generous. Everyone who rang, texted and sent messages by other means while we were walking, helped us to feel that we were doing something worthwhile. The best news as we were on the trail, was that donations were still coming in for Oxfam, which we are thrilled about! So thankyou to everyone. We will post more info when we have photos, but for now, we're all crawling off to bed.

One week to go!!
Obviously we enjoy walking a lot more than we enjoy having our photos taken. Here, finally, are the four of us together at Lisa's St Patrick's Day (and birthday) party. We have been doing lots of training, together and separately, over the last few months, so we're keen to get to the starting blocks next Friday. With the threat of bushfires, we have not been able to practice on the trail recently until last weekend, when we walked over 50km in pouring rain. Having survived that, we are more confident that we'll manage the full 100km.

We're back for more!
Here is team 40 Love at the end of Oxfam trailwalk 2008 - still smiling! We got such a buzz out of completing the walk and raising over $6000 for Oxfam, that we've decided to have another go in 2009. Sadly Joan Noone will be leaving the walking team, so we have commissioned an extensive recruitment process, culminating in the appointment of Bill Kett as the 4th team member. (Thanks to Cath for letting us use her name in the meantime!) We're training already and have started our fundraising efforts. Join us at our movie night on 4th December at Dendy Brighton to see Baz Luhrmann's new film "Australia". And watch out for details of our wine sales, so you can stock up for the holiday season.
