A little bit of ABBA goes a long way!

post image

We are really having a great time training! And must say, that singing ABBA songs along the way is not only hilarious (with Andrew and Susan as back up singers) but it also passes the time and we get up a real pace! We've enjoyed the "Super leg", also did CP7 to the end and then back again (14kms) and note to teams - the "back again" bit was the hardest! Lucky we won't have to do it for the event!! We've also been training on the stairs between Black Rock and Mentone. We've been sorting out food, water and "treats" - well actually for us, anything that is not water is a "treat"!!! We've also been overcoming a few obstacles like a leaking hydration pack and a bit of chaffing. We feel great! Looking forward to a big training session this weekend! Roll on ABBA!! xx

Taking every opportunity to train!

post image

Hi Everyone! In the lead up to the Christmas period and holidays, we are really trying to take every opportunity we can to train, putting in a minimum of 2 hours! We are putting in the time around our area, which is Bayside and planning to hit the actual track in the new year. Training on the track is vital, however, we are maximising our current training time any way we can! Terry and Susan trained around the Black Rock area on Saturday (12th Dec), walking on the beach and going up and down and up and down all those wonderful stairs from the beach to the road. Natalie walked home a Christmas Party (Black Rock to Elwood) and even managed to run at the end! That's what we mean by taking any opportunity! Terry is our fitness coach and you can see from the photo's above, just why! She is very inspirational, very fit and her core strength...well we want to be like that one day! More news soon!

1st Team Day of Training 1000 Steps

post image

We had our first training as a team on Friday (4th Dec) arriving in Ferntree Gully to do the Kokoda Memorial "1000 Steps". It was a clean, fresh morning and it didn't take long for us to raise a sweat! Terry loaded us up with weights (individually selected according to our capacity) and off we went, up, up, up! It was a great work out and great start for the team. Contrary to popular belief (held perhaps by Susan and Natalie) there is no mini-bar, cafe latte or gelati van at the top of the hill - just a chance to stretch and start down the other side. Terry and Andrew looked good in their new shoes. Natalie and Susan going shoe shopping on Thursday - how exciting. Andrew carried our water bottles this time, but next time we will have hydration packs, because Natalie has been shopping on eBay!! Everyone pulled up well the next day. Looking forward to the next team day!
